Representation
11.11.17
Representation in Media is a term in which the media portrays different aspects of society including age, religion, and race, to their audience.
Both Race and Ethnicity are different as Race is associated with your skin colour, hair, eyes while ethnicity is associated with culture.
The media plays a role in showing the audience how they think and see different races in their everyday lives.
Historically in places like the US and the western parts, Whites have been associated with superiority and privilege while people with coloured skin have historically been associated with being inferior.
Stereotyping is when you take a trait from a race and exaggerate It, most times for comedic effect. Positive stereotypes can be when good traits from races are used to represent them. An Example of positive stereotyping could be representing African-Americans with better athletic abilities. An Example of negative stereotyping is representing African-American as aggressive individuals.
Over the last 30 years, Afro-Caribbean people have been represented differently in British popular television. In the show Love thy neighbour, a show made in the 1970s to early 80s, and the black and white minstrel show, the Afro-Caribbean characters have been represented poorly, being the butt of the racist jokes made by the white characters. Nowadays Afro-Caribbean people are represented much more equal to white people on British television.
The British television show, Citizen Khan, Mr Khan’s family are represented with Asian and Muslim stereotypes to present them in a comedic way. The show gives Mr Khan a strong stereotypical accent to make the show more comedic. It has often been criticized for it, saying it “ridicules Islam and stereotypes Asians”.

A typical person that will use my product is a teenager to a young adult (age 16 to 25). This product will be used quite at lot as it will be needed when going to events such as party's, weddings and more.
This will mostly be used by males as they will use my product in order to give them more confidence and speaking to ladies during parties. The emotions when using my product are hyperactive and confident hence the name Fever.

In this image, we see an illustration of an eye, a bee and an M, all which were used with shapes. Paul made the background be black and to make the colours of the symbols more bright and effective. The symbols are used to represent the name of the brand, with "I" being a symbol of an actual eye and the "B" being a bee. What I mostly like about the image is the stripiness of the M and on the bee and also the black background as it helps brighten the symbols.

Lester Beall
Lester Beal born in 1903 to 1969, was an American designer educated at Lane Technical School in Chicago and also received, in the University of Chicago, a bachelor's degree in art history. Four years after his death in 1969, Lester Beall was added into the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame.
In this image, we see a small building with light coming out of it and a light bulb which represents the light. Personally like how they use the light bulb to represent the light coming out of the small house, I also like the red and purple as the two colors look good together.

Brand/Slogan/Logo
This is the Logo for Apple. I personally like how simpleness of the logo as it helps make the logo memorable and why is it's one of the most iconic logos.
This is the logo for uber which I also dislike. I believe it is very bland looking and basic. It is also not memorable at all.

Brand/Slogan/Logo

A
brand is the name of a company selling specific product e.g Google,
Samsung, Apple etc. With a Brand comes a slogan, which is a phrase that
helps define the brand. Examples of slogans would be, Mcdonalds "I'm
lovin' it", Nikes "Just do it", and Subways "Eat Fresh". A logo is a
symbol that helps represent the brand and be able to promote it to the
public.
These are logos that personally like:
This is the Logo for Apple. I personally like how simpleness of the logo as it helps make the logo memorable and why is it's one of the most iconic logos.
This
is the logo for Burger King. What I like about this logo is that it's
colorful. I also like the bright red text in the middle which really
makes the logo stand out.
This
is the Mcdonalds Logo. What I like about this logo is the gigantic
bright yellow m which really helps the Logo stand out and make it very
iconic.
This
is Playstation Logo. Just like the burger king logo I enjoy this logo
for it's colorfulness. I also Like how the P and the S are designed and
placed in the logo.
Of
all the Logos I believe Mcdonalds is the most successful and it's
mostly because the design is very memorable and stands out a lot.
These are Logos I personally dislike.
This is the bing logo. I personally dislike it because of it's ugly font.
Guinness Advert
NoitulovE
08.10.17
NoitulovE is a British advert showcased on television on the 3rd October 2005 and was made to promote Guinness. This 60 second advert would go on to be praised by many critics, calling it "A flawless DGI production to an irresistible piece of music propelling a brilliant, astonishingly witty new iteration of a longstanding, unique positioning”, as well receiving many awards.
From the AD we can see that the target audience are men at their late twenties to early thirties.
Their slogan, “Good things come to those who wait” is featured in the end of the advert, and was quite suitable at the time as it was first ad since its four-year hiatus.
The ad does use some humour, as the music that plays, The Rhythm of Life, and the visual effects used gives the ad a comedic feel to it. Going back millions of years to primitive fish who drank dirty water, it was a long time to wait through evolution until they could drink in the pub as modern men.
The visual effects mostly used in this ad was CGI but it another visual effect used was the video reversed.

In this lesson, we got in pairs and researched a website and it's packaging. Me and my partner was told to amylase this website of this shoe box. The creators of this box used less cardboard and used less volume to save the planet. This was made for the older generation as the design of the box is simple looking and would not attract anyone of the younger generation. The design in my opinion is very bland and ugly looking. The unique part of the package is the shape of it and the open space that shows how the shoe looks. The designer of this package is Andreas Kioroglou and the design is MATADOG DESIGN.

This is one of the adverts I researched as I myself will being making one for my product "Fever". In this advert we see someone using their spray before walking through various areas filled with woman who are attracted to the smell. I enjoyed this advert as it's short and simple. The music used in the ad was also good. I think I will use the reaction of the ladies from the scent of the deodorant in my advert.

This is another advert I researched for the advert I'm creating. I enjoyed the music choice and the direction of the ad and it inspires me. It also was quite comedic which made the advert even better.

Generation (Welsh) Grime –
Astroid Boys
This is a Radio
Documentary on Grime from an unexpected place – Cardiff, Wales.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04rdvlb
There were three different voices we hear in this
documentary, The Leader of the rap group, the interviewer and the Radio
Narrator. The Various speakers in the documentary explain to their audience
about the lyrics and the meaning behind them and what their target audience is.
Different Songs were used from the rap group as well as songs from many other
Grime Artists. A lot of the clips were recorded outside. This was to make it sound
more authentic. If I created this on Adobe Audition, I would firstly gather
songs and interviews from the grime artists. Once I have them all together I
would important them in and put them into different audio tracks. While the
interview audio is happening I would add background music but lower it. The
target audience for the documentary would be for the older generation who don’t
know grime and but listening to this they would’ve learnt more. Radio 4 is
actually targeted towards an older audience. I’ve listened to Radio documentary
like this before during car trips.
